Privacy Policy. Real Epoch Converter.

Short version: the timestamps and dates you convert stay on your device. Analytics and ads are separate systems that do transmit data (as described below), and the contact form, newsletter, and user reviews only handle what you choose to send me.

Who I am

Real Epoch Converter is a free online epoch converter, built and operated by me — an individual developer — as a solo project. No account is required, and the tool itself runs entirely in your browser. Throughout this policy, "I", "me", and "my" refer to me as the operator of this site. The personal information I receive is limited to what you choose to send me through the contact form, the newsletter signup, or the optional user reviews feature, each described below.

To keep the site free, I display advertising (Google AdSense) and use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage.

Conversions never leave your device

All timestamp conversions happen 100% locally in your browser. I do not act as a Data Processor for your conversion inputs, as this data is never transmitted to my servers. Paste a timestamp, type a date, or run a batch conversion and the calculation happens locally using JavaScript. No conversion data — not the values, the results, or anything derived from them — is transmitted to me or to any third party.

That guarantee covers conversion input specifically. The other things that happen on this site are separate systems and are not covered by it: Google Analytics and Google AdSense load scripts that transmit usage and advertising data to those providers, and the contact form, newsletter, and user reviews transmit only what you type into those forms, which is stored securely via standard third-party processors. Each is described in its own section below. In short: what you convert stays local; what the site needs to run (analytics, ads) and what you choose to send (contact messages, newsletter signup, reviews) does not.

Consent, cookies & local storage

Where opt-in consent is required by law — the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, and India — you'll see a small banner on your first visit offering "Accept all" or "Decline," built and operated by me directly (I do not use a third-party consent platform). Dismissing the banner, or simply ignoring it, has exactly the same legal effect as clicking "Decline": your consent is never assumed. If you accept, Google Analytics and Google AdSense run with full measurement and personalization (subject to Google's own regional policies). If you decline — or do nothing — analytics stay cookieless and ads stay non-personalized. You keep full access to every tool either way: the banner never blocks scrolling, the converter, or navigation. You can change your choice any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, and the details of every cookie and storage key are listed in my cookie policy.

Outside the regions listed above, opt-in consent isn't required by law, so no banner is shown and analytics/ads run by default. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, I automatically treat that as a request to opt out of ad personalization and analytics tracking, everywhere, without requiring you to interact with any banner. You can also opt out at any time using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer.

The site uses your browser's local storage to remember your preferences and your consent choice (your consent choice, your chosen timezone, light or dark mode, and one-time prompt states so popups never nag you). None of it leaves your device and none of it is accessible to me. You can clear or change any of this at any time through your browser's site-data settings, or by using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

Google Analytics (analytics)

I use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate site usage — for example, how many visitors a page receives and roughly where traffic comes from. Google Analytics may use cookies to recognize returning visitors and collect anonymized usage data. I do not use it to build individual profiles, and I have not enabled advertising features (such as Google Signals) in Analytics. IP anonymization is enabled.

  • In the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and India, Google Analytics runs without cookies until you accept my banner, and with full measurement once you accept.
  • In California and other US states with similar privacy laws, analytics runs by default, but you can opt out at any time — including automatically, if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, or via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" footer link.
  • Elsewhere, analytics runs with full measurement by default.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely, on any browser, by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Advertising (Google AdSense)

The site displays ads served by Google AdSense, which keeps the tool free.

  • Before you accept (and if you decline): every ad is served as a non-personalized ad. Non-personalized ads are contextual — they use only the page you're viewing, not your browsing history — and do not drop profiling cookies.
  • In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, Google's own advertising policy requires publishers to use a Google-certified consent management platform to serve personalized ads. I do not use one, so visitors in these regions are always shown non-personalized ("Limited") ads — no cookies, no profiling — regardless of the choice made in my banner.
  • In India and most other regions, once you accept my banner, ads are personalized; if you decline, they stay non-personalized.
  • In California and other US states with similar privacy laws, ads are personalized by default, but you can opt out of this at any time via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" footer link, or automatically if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. I do not sell your personal information for money.

Where personalized ads run, Google may set cookies and use your browsing activity on this and other sites to show more relevant ads, subject to Google's own privacy policy and the choices you make at Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com). You can also learn more at "How Google uses data" (google.com/policies/technologies/ads/).

Server logs

Like virtually every website, my hosting provider may automatically record basic technical logs (such as the requested page and the date and time of the request) for security and reliability. I do not use these logs to build profiles, and they are retained only as long as needed for operational purposes.

Contact form

The contact page lets you send me a message. The form runs entirely in the browser, and your message is sent securely to my team inbox and stored via standard third-party processors so I can reply to you.

  • What is sent: only the fields you type into the form — your name, email address, chosen subject, and message — plus your explicit consent, recorded when you tick the consent checkbox. Nothing else on the page is transmitted.
  • How it is used: solely to read your message and reply to you. I never sell or share it, and I don't add contact-form senders to any marketing list.
  • How long I keep it: up to 24 months after my last reply, then deleted.
  • Consent: the form cannot be submitted until you tick the unticked "I have read and agree to the privacy policy" checkbox. That is a deliberate compliance choice — consent must be a clear, affirmative action (GDPR Art. 7; India's DPDP Act, 2023, Sec. 6).

Email newsletter

A small popup may appear after your first visit (once you've dismissed the cookie banner) asking if you'd like to receive converter updates by email. This popup is entirely optional and you can close it at any time.

  • What is collected: only the email address you type into the popup and click "Subscribe." Nothing else on the page is transmitted.
  • How it is used: your email is stored securely via standard third-party processors and may be used for sending converter updates, new feature announcements, marketing communications, and analytics to understand subscriber engagement. I will never sell or share your email with third parties.
  • Consent: the submit button stays disabled until you tick the unticked consent checkbox, and the fact and time of your consent are recorded when you subscribe. If you close the popup or never tick the box, no email is collected.
  • Storage: your email is kept only as long as the newsletter is active. You can request deletion at any time by contacting me.
  • Unsubscribe: every email I send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact me directly to have your email removed. Opting out of marketing communications does not affect the core tool — you can always use Real Epoch Converter without providing an email.

User reviews

The reviews page lets you publish an opinion about the site. It is entirely optional.

  • What is collected: the display name you type, the star rating you choose, the optional tool selector, and your review text. I do not ask for your email and do not collect your IP address through this feature. Hidden anti-spam measures and rate limiting protect the form from bots.
  • That it will be public: approved reviews are published on the reviews page for everyone to read, together with the display name, rating, and submission date. The form states this before you submit, and submission requires an explicit consent checkbox, consistent with the EU/UK GDPR and India's DPDP Act, 2023 (which requires consent to be free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous).
  • Moderation: nothing is published automatically. Every review enters a queue with a "pending" status and appears on the site only after a human approves it. I decline spam, abuse, personal attacks, and anything unlawful; reviews are never edited for meaning.
  • How long I keep it: approved reviews stay published until you ask me to remove them or I close the feature. Declined reviews are kept for record-keeping and can be erased on request.
  • Your rights: you can request correction or erasure of your review at any time via the contact page — tell me the exact display name you used. Erasure removes the review from storage and it stops appearing on the site immediately. This path exists specifically to honor the right to erasure under GDPR Art. 17 and India's DPDP Act, 2023 (Section 12).
  • Children: you must confirm you are at least 18 to submit a review, and I do not knowingly publish reviews from anyone younger.

Third-party services

The site uses Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above, and standard third-party processors to store and deliver contact messages, newsletter signups, and reviews. Fonts are served directly from this site and are not a third-party request. No personal data is intentionally shared with any other third party. I do not use any third-party consent management platform — the cookie banner on this site is built and operated by me directly.

Who is responsible, your rights, and complaints

The controller responsible for your personal data is me, the operator of Real Epoch Converter. For any privacy question or request, use the contact page — messages sent there reach me directly.

EU/UK (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time (use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer for cookies). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EU, the authority in your country. I respond without undue delay.

India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). If you are in India, the DPDP Act, 2023, and the DPDP Rules, 2025, apply to how I handle your personal data.

  • Consent: my banner asks for your consent before analytics and ad personalization run. Consent is free, specific, informed, and unambiguous, and you can withdraw it at any time as easily as you gave it — use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer or clear your browser's site data for realepochconverter.com.
  • Your rights: you may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, and you may withdraw consent or raise a complaint about how your data is handled.
  • Grievance redressal: to raise any concern about your personal data, use the contact page or write to my contact email. I will respond within the period required by law with a resolution or an explanation.
  • Complaints to the regulator: you may also file a complaint with India's Data Protection Board if you are not satisfied with my response.
  • Security and retention: I apply reasonable security safeguards (HTTPS and security headers) and keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described here.
  • Breach notification: if a data breach occurs that is likely to cause harm, I will notify the Data Protection Board and affected users as required by law (within 72 hours of becoming aware).
  • Cross-border transfer: analytics and advertising data are processed by Google, which may involve servers outside India (including the EU and the US). Under current law, transfers to these countries are permitted.

California and other US state privacy laws

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising — which includes the personalized advertising described above. You can exercise this right at any time using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer, and I automatically honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out request without requiring any further action from you. Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and other states with comparable privacy laws have similar rights, which I honor the same way. I do not sell personal information for money.

Lawful bases and how long I keep data

Why I may process it (lawful bases). Contact messages are handled on the basis of my legitimate interests in answering you and running the site (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)); the newsletter, the publication of a review, and analytics and advertising cookies and personalization are based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

How long I keep it (retention). Contact messages are kept for up to 24 months after our last exchange, then deleted. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe and removed within 30 days afterwards. Approved reviews stay published until you ask me to remove them or I close the feature; rejected or unreviewed submissions are deleted after 6 months. Server logs are retained only briefly for security and reliability. Analytics and advertising data are retained by Google under its own settings.

International transfers

My analytics, advertising, and form processors may handle data outside your country, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, I rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, together with the adequacy decisions the Commission has adopted for countries such as Canada, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. My hosting and content-delivery provider, Cloudflare, processes request data at its global edge under its own safeguards.

Children's privacy

This site is a general-purpose developer tool and is not directed at children under 18 (the age of majority for data-protection purposes in India and many other countries). I do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, and I ask that minors not use the contact form, newsletter signup, or review submission.

Changes to this policy

If I change how the site handles data, I will update this page and revise the date below. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
